2015 Christmas Offering
This is such a great time of year! Holiday parties, Christmas trees, hot chocolate, and the spirit of generosity that seems to swell up in our society. There’s something about peace on earth and goodwill towards men that makes me think about other people a little more than usual.
Next month, we're inviting everyone connected to Northminster to participate in our second annual Christmas Offering. This is the time of year where we put feet to our faith–where we show others the love of Jesus through our generosity. The idea is that as we buy gifts for other people, we want our largest, most extravagant gift to go to Jesus. We’ll use 100% of donations to this offering to fund the following projects.
- Support the ministry of CCSA (Community Christian Service Agency). CCSA is a local agency in Clairemont that provides emergency service to individuals and families in need. They provide food, clothing, and counseling to assist people in their transition to self-reliance. They are doing a great work in our community and we want to support them through his offering.
- Upgrade the sound and lighting systems in the sanctuary. First impressions matter when someone visits a church. Unfortunately, our lighting and sound don’t make a fantastic first impression. A portion of the Christmas Offering will go toward improving the atmosphere in the sanctuary—not only for our own delight, but also for those who visit us for the first time.
- Scholarships for children and youth ministries. Camps. Retreats. Vacation Bible School. These are the environments where kids are able to connect more deeply with God. We want to raise enough money to make it as easy as possible for kids to attend events like these in 2016.
On December 13, 2015, we will receive the Christmas Offering during the worship service. We’re providing special giving envelopes and encouraging everyone to come prepared to give on that day.
If you’re going to be out of town on December 13, or if you’d like to go ahead and donate now, you can do that now online. It’s safe, secure and simple to use. Give right now by donating online.
Please pray about participating in this offering. God has called us to “connect people to life with Jesus”, and we’re blessed to be able to join him in doing that by meeting the needs of our mission and ministry.
