Northminster Christmas Offering
I love this time of year. Holiday parties, Christmas trees, hot chocolate and the spirit of generosity that seems to well up in our society. There’s something about peace on earth and goodwill towards men that makes us think about other people a little more than usual.
Next month, we're inviting everyone connected to Northminster to participate in our first annual Christmas Offering. This is the time of year where we put feet to our faith–where we show others the love of Jesus through our generosity. The idea here is that as we buy gifts for other people, we want our largest, most extravagant gift to go to Jesus. We’ll use 100% of donations to this offering to fund the following projects.
- Multimedia equipment for children and youth. In order to grow our ministry to children and youth, and to keep improving our ministry to kids, we want to install large screen TVs, sound systems, and media cabinets in both the Fireside Room and the Kids Life Room (formerly, the youth room).
- Fund a local service project in 2015. In previous years, we’ve done a major clean-up in the alley behind the church. We want to do something like that again in 2015.
- Fill the food shed at Presbyterian Urban Ministries (PUM). PUM works with the poor and homeless near downtown San Diego. And when the director of PUM was asked what they needed, she immediately said, “Food!” Their food shed is virtually empty and we want to fill it so that they can meet people’s needs as they move into 2015.
On December 21, 2014, we will receive the Christmas Offering during the worship service. We’re providing special giving envelopes and encouraging everyone to come prepared to give on that day.
If you’re going to be out of town on December 21, or if you’d like to go ahead and donate now, you can do that now online. It’s safe, secure and simple to use. Give right now by donating online.
Please pray about participating and jump in with us. God has called us to “connect people to life with Jesus”, and we’re blessed to be able to join him in doing that by meeting the needs of our kids and community.
