Northminster Presbyterian Church is a member church in the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A).
But we're a lot more than that...
Northminster is a community of faith, grace, and service.
Here’s what we mean by that.
We’re a community.
In other words, we’re in this together. Following Jesus is not something a person can do alone. Well, at least not very well. We need one another to encourage each other, to comfort each other, and to spur one another on toward greater love and good deeds.
We’re a community of faith.
At Northminster, we trust God even when the odds seem to be stacked against us. And, let’s be honest. It seems like the odds are stacked against us most of the time. But the reality is that the odds are totally stacked in our favor. Why? Because God is for us! And if God is for us, who can be against us?
We’re a community of grace.
Everyone is welcome here at Northminster. I know, I know. That’s so cliché. But we mean it. Nobody’s perfect, which means that everybody needs Jesus. And every person who needs Jesus is welcome at Northminster. But let’s go one step further. No one is ever shamed at Northminster. Just as Jesus didn’t shame the woman caught in adultery, we refuse to shame anyone. Rather, we honor the dignity of every human being. This doesn’t mean that anything goes. But as we respect the worth of each person, we trust that God will do his work of transformation in each of our hearts so that we would ultimately leave our life of sin.
We’re a community of service.
Jesus came into the world, not to be served, but to serve. In the same way, we as a church are committed to serving. We serve God. We serve one another. We serve our neighborhood. And we serve the world. By serving, we reflect the light of Jesus into the dark places of the world. What does this look like practically? It means we’re always asking the question, “What can I do to help?”
The bottom line.
Our mission is to connect everyone we encounter to life with Jesus. This is more than giving people information about Jesus. This means helping people to know Jesus. To be in relationship with Jesus. To live life with Jesus—as our guide, as our friend, as our savior, and as our lord.
We invite you to live your life with Jesus together with us.
